Help Project Justice Colorado Analyze Family Court Outcomes Through Public Contributions

Project Justice USA & Project Justice Colorado previously collected data from individuals and families through public surveys documenting experiences within the family court system. Those survey results and analytics have helped identify recurring concerns related to custody outcomes, judicial conduct, custody evaluator strengths and weaknesses, domestic violence allegations, due process issues, and the treatment of protective parents and children within family court proceedings.

However, one of the greatest barriers to meaningful public analysis and accountability is the limited public access to family court records and outcomes due to cost barriers. Unlike many other areas of the justice system, family court proceedings often occur with little transparency, making it difficult for researchers, policymakers, journalists, and the public to evaluate patterns and outcomes across jurisdictions.

The goal of this project is to develop data-driven analysis that can help identify:
- Outcome patterns across jurisdictions
- Trends involving domestic violence and child abuse allegations
- Custody and parenting time outcomes
- Due process concerns
- Recurring procedural issues
- Variations in outcomes between districts and judicial officers
- Judicial decision impact on child related outcomes
- Potential insights on fatality prevention

By collecting and organizing this information, PJC hopes to contribute to a more evidence-based public understanding of family court systems and to support informed discussions regarding reform, accountability, transparency, and child safety.

The analysis conducted by PJC will focus on aggregated data and trends across multiple cases and jurisdictions, rather than evaluating or publishing findings about any single individual case.

We encourage contributors to remove or redact sensitive personal information, including any unnecessary identifying information before submission.
