Current Open Surveys in Colorado

Purpose & Vision

There are currently two open surveys:

  1. Survey of Colorado children who experienced family court and are now 18.
  2. Survey of Colorado self represented litigants in the family court. 

How did family court impact children who have aged out?

This survey aims to collect the voices of children who experienced the family court system in Colorado. This is not an academic research study, but rather a collection of data from the impacts of family court on children.

  • 1. Create state-specific reports highlighting patterns and trends in family court experiences from a child's point of view at 18+
  • 2. Provide data-driven insights to state legislators and government officials and local advocates
  • 3. Empower the voice of children who experienced family court with the goal to contribute to meaningful family court reform
  • 4. Foster transparency about family court outcomes and impacts on children

Have you been self-represented in family court?

  • 1. It is estimated that about 75% of civil cases have one party that is self-represented and the numbers continue to increase.
  • 2. Lack of adequate resources for self-represented parties, especially in domestic violence cases involving the safety of children.
  • 3. Collecting data on the current barriers self-represented parties face in family court.
  • 4. Foster transparency about self-representation and outcomes in family court cases.
